The loss extends FC Dallas’ current winless streak to ten games.
Maxi Urruti nearly had the game’s first goal in the 11th minute. The Dallas forward hammered in a volley from at the top of the penalty box but the goal was called off because Tesho Akindele was offside.
FC Dallas made the first breakthrough 14 minutes in on a goal from Akindele. Michael Barrios drove the ball in from the wings cross the ball across goal to find Akindele for his fourth of the season.
Minnesota didn’t take long to respond as they would find a counter attack goal ten minutes later from Christian Ramirez as he took a perfect ball from Kevin Molino right down the middle of the field to beat Jesse Gonzalez.
United doubled their lead in the 35th minute on a great ball from Ramirez into the box where Miguel Ibarra was wide open to finish it home.
FC Dallas nearly got an equalizer on a penalty kick from Mauro Diaz in the 67th minute. The FC Dallas playmaker was brought down at the top of the box. His shot from the spot was saved by Bobby Shuttleworth.
In the 70th minute Minnesota got a third goal from Ethan Finley on a nice give and go between him and Ramirez at the top of the penalty box. Finley found an open spot in the Dallas box and was able to put the ball at the far post past Gonzalez.
FC Dallas played the final nine minutes down a man as Akindele was issued a straight red for a 50-50 challenge on Shuttleworth.
Minnesota picked up a fourth goal in the 88th minute on a breakaway from Abu Danladi. On a clearance from his team’s own penalty box, the ball found a wide open Danladi at midfield where he was able to beat Maynor Figueroa to the ball. After that Danladi went one-on-one with Gonzalez before beating him to score.
FC Dallas returns to action next Wednesday as they host the Colorado Rapids in their second to last regular season home game.
