View from the East: Hot Mess

The heat was awful, but the game somehow topped it.

MLS: Seattle Sounders FC at FC Dallas Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

It was a beautiful, but very hot evening in Frisco around game time on Saturday. The heat of the day, the boxing match, and the University of Texas game all once again ravaged the amount of people attending the FC Dallas game that night. The team responded by putting out another lackluster performance for the depleted crowd as they gave us next to nothing to cheer about all game. Until the dust up between Acosta and Clint Dempsey which got the crowd mildly fired up. But first about that performance.

No Cane’s

For those of us that have at least been able to grab some good ol’ buy one get one free Cane’s chicken the past couple of home draws, this painful two hour match was not to be rewarded with discounted chicken. There were a good number of Seattle fans as per usual, but they were probably expecting a better game between two really good teams from last season. The Supporters Shield winners versus the MLS Cup Champions and it amounted to a 0-0 draw. Not sure what we could use to get this FC Dallas team back on track, but we’re gotten everything other than a win.

Some Spark Please

We’ve had everything that should have already sparked this team, other than a win. We’ve had a blowout home loss to Vancouver losing 4-0, we’ve had a blowout away loss against Atlanta losing 3-0. We had a come from behind draw against New York while being down to ten men, and we’ve also let Houston come from behind for a home draw. Each of these things should have sparked something to help us get into the win column. Other than a win, what else does this team need? We’ve gotten our butts kicked, we’ve had our guts punched and we’ve delivered a gut punch of our own.

And finally, your fan quote of the game: “Had more fun standing in line for beer than watching this game. At least there’s a goal at the end of that.” Beer definitely made the game tolerable. Unfortunately it has been that way for a while now.

What do you think FC Dallas needs to finally get out of this slump? Disappointed in not getting Cane’s to at least ease the pain of losing 2 hours of your life? Was the beer line more exciting than the game? Let me know in the comments below!!
