Dallas is now winless in their last nine games, while the unbeaten streak for the Sounders pushes to 13 games. Dallas got their seventh shutout of the season as they kept the Sounders to just two shots on the night.
FC Dallas came alive early in the attack as Maynor Figueroa pushed up from his left back position to help set up a scoring chance in the 15th minute. Figueroa pushed the ball to Michael Barrios who nearly got his 14th assist of the season when he crossed the ball to Roland Lamah, but a Seattle defender was there to clear it away.
Seattle’s best chance of the match came in the 30th minute as Roman Torres found Clint Dempsey wide open on the far side for a one-time volley that hammered off the crossbar.
Stefan Frei came up big for Seattle in the 39th minute on another chance for Lamah. Carlos Gruezo first attempted a long-range shot that Frei punched out to Lamah but the veteran keeper was able to make sure Lamah’s rebound didn’t find the back of the net.
Dallas continued to push for a go-ahead goal in the second half but were met with bad passes and poor finishes. The best chance of the second half came down to a ball from Barrios in the 82nd minute to substitute Cristian Colman. Barrios found a wide open Colman in the middle of the penalty box but he was not able to get a good enough shot on goal to test Frei.
Dallas returns to action next week as they travel to Florida to take on Orlando City.
