New, comment

The 24-year old academy product took a wild path to MLS.

The league roster freeze for 2017 was today and FC Dallas went out in their typical style by signing the 20th player produced in its academy, goalkeeper Eduardo ”Pollo” Cortes.

The 24-year old Cortes played three seasons with the FC Dallas Academy from 2009 to 2011, appearing in two Dallas Cups and three U.S. Soccer Development Academy Finals. He was the starting goalkeeper in the Under-18 Academy’s first U.S.S.D.A. Championship in 2012, paying alongside current FC Dallas players Aaron Guillen and Kellyn Acosta.

Cortes was signed by USL side, St. Louis Football Club in 2016 but did not make an appearance. He was with North American Soccer League club, Indy Eleven during its 2017 preseason. Before that, Cortes played four seasons at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis from 2012 to 2015. He appeared in 61 matches for the Jaguars, making a total of 354 saves.

So there you have it, a third keeper is finally signed.
