FC Dallas signs midfielder Luis Gonzalez

After coming up as a rumor over night, the club announced the latest signing on Wednesday afternoon.

Prensa La Guaira/Deportes Venezuela

Just as quickly as this was a rumor over night and this morning, FC Dallas has made it official by signing Venezuelan midfielder Luis Gonzalez to a contract pending the receipt of his P1 Visa and his ITC.

The 26-year old has over 185 appearances in the Venezuelan first division with Caracas, Deportivo la Guaira, Mineros de Guayana and, most-recently, Monagas.

Since joining Monagas in 2016, Gonzalez has 17 goals in 45 appearances. He has earned three caps with the Venezuelan National Team since 2016.

He is now the second player on the roster from Venezuela, joining fellow midfielder Carlos Cermeno.

Naturally this signing adds some needed depth to the wings for FC Dallas as the playoffs loom in the coming months. Gonzalez has a good track record of scoring in South America and could be that off-the-bench spark that the team has been lacking as of late.

There was no mention of allocation (of the Targeted or General variety) being used to sign Gonzalez either is a nice thing to see as well.

What do you all make of this signing?
