FC Dallas heads to Columbus after dropping two points at home on Wednesday night.
Solidity for the Crew.
The Crew are currently fourth in the East and seem likely to make the playoffs. In their last three matches they have beaten LA and Chicago, while drawing Orlando on the road. Guys like Justin Meram and Ola Kamara are producing goals and their defense has solidified as a unit in the last month. Columbus are on a good run heading into Saturday night as they face a downtrodden FC Dallas side.
Something Has to Change on “D”
Dallas has given up 13 goals since their Open Cup loss to SKC and in that time have recorded one win, two draws, and three losses. In that time FCD has dropped from first in the West to fifth. Dallas needs a big change defensively to help sure up the back and at this point it has to be Hernan Grana. This team is being consistently caught out and having an attacking fullback fling crosses into the box is useless without someone taking advantage of them. This team needs an injection of hunger and how better to do that, than to put in a young homegrown like Reggie Cannon.
A repeat if of the 2015 trip to Columbus?
Dallas fans may remember FCD’s 2015 trip to Columbus. Dallas started five homegrowns, an MLS record, and defeated the Crew convincingly in Columbus. Perhaps it’s time for part two? With the current team handing out goals for fun, it’s hard to think injecting some youth can really make it any worse. Guys like Cannon, Paxton Pomykal, Coy Craft, and Jesus Ferreira are ready to see the field and show what they are worth. This game will be tough anyway, why not throw in the kids and tell them no pressure? 2015 Oscar Pareja did it, perhaps 2017 Pareja should try it again.
