Super Raton’s long rumored move away from Club Blooming finally materialized, several other players moved, returned, or were rumored to be on the move.
Europe - (Season concluded)
Keaton Parks - (DFW - Benfica B/Segunda Liga): After months of speculation, Benfica finally made their acquisition of Keaton Parks official:
As mentioned in a prior HH&A, Parks will start out with Benfica B in the Segunda Liga (Portugal 2nd Division).
Shaft Brewer - (PA - Unattached): The news broke July 1st:
Shaft Brewer doesn’t turn 18 until October, so he can’t officially join RB Leipzig until then. The only real confirmation of this transaction is verified by Brewer himself, who has changed his Twitter profile to show that he is a player for RB Leipzig.
It is very likely that Shaft will start out with the U19’s once he turns 18 in October.
Weston McKennie - (FCD - Schalke 04/Bundesliga): Schalke 04 is currently practicing for the start of their preseason. They have been streaming their practices on their official Facebook page, if you’re curious. Schalke 04 will play their first preseason match this coming Saturday against SPVGG Erkenschwick of the Oberliga (German 5th Division). So expect Weston to see some minutes with the first team.
Fabian Castillo - (FCD -Trabzonspor/Super Lig): Fabian joined Trabzonspor in Hungary, where the team is preparing for the start of preseason:
Ramiro Funes Mori - (DFW - Everton/Premier League): After suffering a season ending injury midway through last season, Ramiro is back with the team practicing for the start of the preseason:

Rogelio Funes Mori - (DFW - Monterrey/Liga MX): Now for some further funny season talk:

The rumor is that Trabzonspor has entered negotiations with Monterrey to acquire striker Rogelio Funes Mori. There’s further talk that Trabzonspor is happy with the progress made in the negotiations, and that they are confident that the negotiations will be successful. Rogelio Funes Mori would become Fabian Castillo’s teammate in Turkey, should this come to pass.
Central America & South America
Blas Perez - (FCD - Municipal/Guatemala): The long rumored move away from Club Blooming, finally became official:
Blas joins the reigning Guatemalan champions, where he will be the team mate of former FCD Academy goalkeeper Nicholas Hagen.
Major League Soccer
Lee Nguyen (DFW - New England Revolution): Lee suited up on Wednesday (June 28) as New England hosted DC United in the 5th round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. Lee came on in the 75th minute and helped New England claim a 2-1 victory over DCU. The win sees The Revolution advance to the USOC Quarterfinals.
Lee started Sunday night at The Philadelphia Union. Lee and the Revs struggled to get any offense going and lost 3-0 on the road.
Lee started Wednesday (July 5) against the visiting New York Red Bulls. Lee played 90 minutes and was very effective in the attacking 3rd all match long. With the teams tied in the first half, Lee broke the tie:
The goal would see the Revolution to a 2-1 halftime lead, but it would not be enough. New England would let that lead vanish in the second half, as NYRB rallied to defeat New England 3-2. This was New England’s first home loss of the season.
The pair of losses see the Revolution drop to 10th place in the Eastern Conference.
Greg Garza (DFW - Atlanta United FC): Garza did not suit up Wednesday (June 28), as Atlanta United FC lost 3-2 at Miami FC of the NASL in the 5th round of the US Open Cup. Zach Loyd suited up but did not play. The loss eliminates AUFC from the USOC.
Greg started on Saturday and played 90 minutes as Atlanta United FC won 2-0 at Columbus Crew SC.
Greg started Tuesday (July 4) and played 90 minutes, getting 1 assist:
Atlanta United went on to win 4-2 against a 10 man San Jose Earthquakes.
The wins see Atlanta United FC rise to 5th place in the Eastern Conference.
Jared Jeffrey (DFW - D.C. United): Jared started on Wednesday (June 28) in the 5th round of the US Open Cup and played 90 minutes as DC United lost 2-1 at the New England Revolution. With the loss, DC United is eliminated from the USOC.
Jared Jeffrey suited up on Saturday, but did not play as DC United lost 2-0 at the Montreal Impact.
Jared started Tuesday (July 4) and played 90 minutes at FC Dallas. Jared struggled badly all game, as the FC Dallas midfield ran rough shot over DCU. DC United lost 4-2 at FC Dallas.
The losses see DC United remain dead last in the Eastern Conference.
Dillon suited up, but did not play as Colorado lost 3-1 to the visiting Seattle Sounders.
The win and the loss, combine to see the Rapids stay 10th place in the Western Conference.

Corben Bone (DFW - FC Cincinnati): Corben started started Saturday at Orlando City B. Corben played 90 minutes and had 90.3% completion on 72 passes attempted. FC Cincinnati left Orlando with a 1-1 draw.
The draw keeps FC Cincinnati 7th place in the Eastern Conference.
Jacori Hayes (FCD - Tulsa Roughnecks, Loan): Jacori joined Tulsa on loan this past weekend and started against league leading Monarchs SLC. Check out the full report on FC Dallas on Loan, Big D Soccer’s weekly article, covering all FCD loans.
Devin Vega (AP - San Antonio FC): Devin got the start on Saturday at the Sacramento Republic, playing 91 minutes before being subbed off. Devin played as a Defensive Midfielder in the 4-5-1 formation and played quite well, with 2 tackles, and 89.4% passing accuracy on 47 passes attempted. San Antonio FC escaped Sacramento with a 1-1 draw.
The draw keeps San Antonio FC 2nd place in the Western Conference.
Stephen McCarthy (DFW - San Antonio FC): McCarthy started and played 90 minutes as San Antonio FC got a 1-1 draw at Sacramento Republic.
Eric Avila (FCD - Phoenix Rising): Eric suited up, but did not play Friday night at Reno 1868 FC. Phoenix Rising got a 0-0 draw against Reno 1868 FC.
The draw sees Phoenix drop to 11th place in the Western Conference.
Ruben Luna (FCD/AP - RGVFC Toros): Ruben Luna was called up by the Houston Dynamo for a short loan. Luna suited up on Wednesday (June 28) in the 5th round of the US Open Cup against visiting Sporting Kansas City. Luna came on in the 68th minute with Houston trailing 1-0, but he was unable to help, as Houston lost 2-0 to Sporting Kansas City. The loss eliminated Houston from the USOC.
Ruben was back with RGVFC on Saturday, and got the start:
Luna’s goal of a Penalty Kick, was the game winner, as RGVFC won 1-0 at the Colorado Springs Switchbacks.
With the win, RGVFC moves up to 8th place in the Western Conference.
Conor Doyle (DFW - Puerto Rico FC): Conor started Sunday night at the San Francisco Deltas. Conor played 90 minutes as Puerto Rico FC lost 2-0 to the Deltas.
The loss keeps Puerto Rico FC last place in the NASL.

The Black Gold Derby kicks off this Saturday with both teams tied in 9th place and needing a win to get above the red line. I’ll be watching to see how the OKC crowd treats Jacori Hayes, who’s on loan to bitter rivals Tulsa Roughnecks from OKC’s MLS affiliate.
