View from the East: Fun in the Sun

New, 7 comments

Really wish that overcast lasted the whole day.

MLS: Toronto FC at FC Dallas Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

It was a hot and humid Saturday, one of those days where walking outside guaranteed your clothes wouldn’t stay dry. A 6pm start time meant that our east side was going to get hit with some sun, and boy did the sun bring it. The packed side of the stadium got the shade, good for them. Speaking of the sun, the ref seemed to be a fan of the sun as he kept brandishing the sun’s color in his card selections. And the lone construction worker resumes his valiant duty of ball retrieval! Man the west side was packed this match, but it might’ve been because the east side was a little unbearable...

Fun in the Sun

Wow, I thought I was sweating a good amount on the way to the stadium, if only I knew what awaited me at my seat once inside. It was a scorcher in Frisco with an overcast bringing in the humidity earlier in the day and the sun coming out later to really drive the heat home. Definitely another game that can reignite the debate on proper shade for the stadium. It doesn’t even have to be a fancy shade provider. Just one that will protect people from the suns rays absolutely cooking them in their seats!

The sun didn’t spare our favorite construction worker either as the poor warrior was out there with the sun baring down on him. Once the Hall of Fame section is done, it seems like the area will still get a fair amount of sun on these 6pm start games in the summer. Surely by then the ownership will throw something together right?

Ref & Rolly

Referee was definitely card happy, but in both good and bad ways. There were a few tackles when watching them live I was certain the back pocket was going to get selected and leave FC Dallas with fewer than 11 players on the field. But then Cooper kicked out at Atiba and yet Atiba gets the yellow for that confrontation. Not sure what Salazar was seeing there.

ROLLY LAMAH! Who would’ve predicted a two goal performance from our new Belgian winger. Maxi with a great run towards the endline and Lamah being at the right place at the right time. Diaz was making magical passes all over and one of them was a perfectly weighted ball in for a rolling Rolly as he slotted it into the back of the net for his second. He almost reminded of that guy we don’t talk about anymore...what was his name again?....

Fan quote of the match: “DUDE REF HE KICKED THE HELL OUTTA HIM!” Not sure if I actually saw Atiba get kicked, but I’ll take this loud guy’s word at face value.

Are you currently getting another application of aloe vera to your cooked skin from Saturday? Any chance you’re with me on the shading situation? Where were you when Lamah was score? Was the referee completely out of his mind this game? Let me know in the comments below!
