The United States can clinch their sixth Gold Cup championship with a win over Jamaica in Santa Clara in the Gold Cup Final. Jamaica bunkered and found joy on a free kick from Kemar ‘Taxi’ Lawrence to defeat Mexico 1-0 in the semifinals. The US scuffled around against Costa Rica until the introduction of Clint Dempsey. After letting loose with ‘The Deuce’, the US quickly score a pair against a weakened Tico side to clinch advancement. The US are heavy favorites tonight, but they’ll be trying to beat Andre Blake this evening to bring home the trophy. Easier said than done...

  • Arena’s got to get the lineup right. The outside backs are, with respect, imperfect. Jamaica’s speed and physicality will trouble all but Morrow tonight. An early score could ease some pressure.
  • A latter option like a box to box midfielder (Hint Hint) could provide the cutting edge against a compact defense this evening. #YearofKellyn
  • Arena’s plan thus far has been to exhaust and exploit. Jamaica’s pretty much inviting this.
  • I can’t stress this enough- Jamaica’s a fast and physical team. Arena should array his XI accordingly. We’ll see.
