All the facts from FCD’s big win over TFC.

FC Dallas put in one of their stronger performances of the season on Saturday night in a 3-1 win over league-leaders Toronto FC.

FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja

General thoughts on the match…

I am happy to see the team preform as they did today. It was a very intense game. It was hot and humid but the guys just found a way to control a Toronto FC side that is strong. They have good players. We were able to demonstrate, one more time, that we are a very good team. We had, in the first half, very sharp finishing. That has been something we have been [lacking] this semester. It is something we have been working on… Something we are now demanding out of the players.

On Roland Lamah

Roland is one of the players on this team that gets at opposing defenders easier. Somehow, he finds good spots in front of goal. He is realizing how good he can be for us by exploiting that. I am happy to see him [excelling] and happy to see him score.

On Maxi Urruti…

Maxi gives to the game and to his team, all that he has. He does not give the priority to scoring goals. He gives more to his team than waiting on the edges just to put the ball in the net. Maxi just works for the team. The game is rewarding him, putting him in good spots. He is a very complete player for us. I am delighted to see him excel this year.

On Kellyn Acosta’s goal for the U.S. National Team in today’s match…

I thought it was great news that he scored – not just to see my Kellyn playing with the U.S. National Team today but scoring his first goal with them is fantastic. I just saw 45 minutes of the match but I hear from the other coaches that his performance was very solid.

On scoring two goals…

I had a good warmup and I felt focused. I was ready to go at the beginning of the match. Oscar [Pareja] said before the game that we needed to start strong and be ready from the first minute.

On his goal celebration…

It was for my good friend [Cheick Tioté]. He passed away two weeks ago. I wanted to play for him. I dedicated my first goal and second goal tonight and every game, I am going to play for him. When I came from Africa to Belgium, he did the same. I met him at Anderlecht. The first meeting was good and after that we go on loan to Roda, together…. We always were together… It is difficult [to talk about]. It’s life… I have to do my job. He is always in my heart. When he played, he never gave up. He was very strong. I’m not like that but I try to never give up.

Thoughts on the game…

We knew they were a really good team. They have shown it all season. Today it was really hot and I think they felt that a bit. We were able to open the scoring rather quickly. Then we were able to manage the rest of the game really well.

On the goal…

It means a lot. It’s the best goal that I’ve scored because I could celebrate it for my kid and my wife and we are very happy. We hope there are more to come. We know he’s going to be a boy and he is just four months along.

On the goal celebration…

I’m just really happy and the celebration was really important for me.

Thoughts on the upcoming game against D.C United…

We need to recover for that game and try to focus on that game. We need to get another three points to continue moving up the table. We have an opportunity to be at the top of the table. We need to play our best game.
