The Oklahoma City Energy FC have extended their current win streak to four following their recent U.S. Open Cup win against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks. Now, OKC has a chance to extend that same streak to five against the same team in the same location, Weidner Field, only a few days later.
During this win streak, the Energy have won two matches in USL play and two in U.S. Open Cup play. After a rough start to the 2017 USL season, Jimmy Nielsen and company seem to have returned to form after a few roster and lineup changes.
The Switchbacks have run into poor form as of late, unable to pick up a win in their last four USL matches (draw 2, lose 2). In addition, the Colorado side lost its last match against OKC in the Lamar Hunt Cup. The Colorado Rapids’ affiliate club are down on their luck and the Energy need to take advantage of that.
Having already won at Weidner Field, the OKC Energy should be fully prepared for this weekend match. Only two points away from the playoff line, a win for Oklahoma City can see them turn around their poor season start. As for the Switchbacks, a loss this weekend could see them drop below the playoff line.
Saturday night’s match will be crucial for both clubs but it is hard to avoid OKC’s hot form.
