The Oklahoma City Energy FC has announced the signing of Welsh native Chad Bond. The midfielder previously spent time with Saint Louis FC before parting ways.
Bond, 30, has played for a plethora of teams since starting his professional career in 2003. Starting as a Swansea City youth product, the Welsh midfielder played a total of three games for the now-Premier League team before embarking on an international tour. Bond spent time with clubs from Wales, Spain, Sweden, and the United States.
Bond’s first appearance in the United States came in 2014 when he joined USL side the Sacramento Republic. While in California, the midfielder made five appearances before returning to Wales with Port Talbot Town. Bond would return to North America in 2015, joining the Energy’s bitter rivals Tulsa Roughnecks. He would spend one season in Tulsa before joining Saint Louis FC for two seasons, where he played in 27 matches and scored two goals.
Since the departure of Alejandro Covarrubias, the Energy have been searching for a replacement. The former Welsh Youth International will surely fill an empty spot in OKC’s midfield.
