Another game down and FC Dallas remains unbeaten on the 2017 season following a 3-0 beating of Real Salt Lake on Saturday night.

Maxi Urruti provided two goals on the evening, one minutes into the match and a second in stoppage time. Matt Hedges also scored a goal in the win.

Dallas got off to a strong start large and part to a penalty kick called three minutes in on RSL defender Damian Phillips. The RSL defender extended his arm on an awkward spot and the ref whistled him for handling the ball in the box. Urruti then stepped up to take the penalty that he hammered into the back of the net.

FCD controlled a decent portion of the opening 45 minutes after the penalty kick. In the 13th minute, Roland Lamah chased down a long ball on the left side of the field and found Urruti on the opposite end of the goal. Urruti’s strike though would get blocked to Tesho Akindele who then tried to play in Michael Barrios on the opposite side but a RSL defender was there to clear it out.

Barrios nearly gave Dallas an insurance goal in the 66th minute. Urruti played a long ball to him on the right side of the field where he fired a shot towards the far post only to see Matt Van Oekel get a hand on it and pushed it out for a corner kick.

The very next play Dallas took the two goal lead off the head of Hedges. Kellyn Acosta whipped in a curling ball that found Hedges on the six-yard box and the Dallas captain rose above his defender to knock it into the back of the net.

In stoppage-time, Dallas took a three goal lead to seal the win and Urruti’s second of the night. Cristian Colman played a nice through ball to Urruti behind the RSL defense. Urruti attempted to chip Van Oekel and the RSL keeper managed to get a touch on it but Urruti was there to put in his rebound.

FC Dallas returns to action as they come home next Sunday to host New York City FC.
