Power Rankings: FC Dallas drops following first loss

No longer undefeated, and no longer on top.

MLS: New York City FC at FC Dallas Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

FC Dallas suffered a stunning 0-1 home loss against San Jose, ending a 9 game unbeaten streak to start the season. Surprisingly, FCD did not fall far from the top perch.

MLS - Ranking 3 (Last Week 1)

Comments: It took a legit golazo to hand Dallas their first loss of the season, so nobody should panic. But are there any offensive difference-makers available once Maxi Urruti's hits a dry patch? None of the offseason acquisitions have lived up to their billing, and FCD have dropped 7 points from their last three home games

Goal - Ranking 3 (Last Week 2)

Comments: It seems strange to see Dallas so low, but only one win in the past four games will definitely knock any team down a couple of pegs — even a team that just suffered its first league loss of the season.

ESPNFC - Ranking 2 (Last Week 1)

Comments: Dallas' first defeat of the year, a shocking 1-0 loss against the San Jose Earthquakes, came at home -- where Dallas lost just once in 2016.

Planet Futbol - Ranking 3 (Last Week 1)

Comments: It finally happened. After a nine-game unbeaten run to start the season, FC Dallas lost its first game of 2017, 1–0 at home to San Jose. The truth is that Dallas’s performances have been a bit inconsistent the last few weeks, but it was able to salvage draws in games most teams might have lost otherwise. It will look to get back on track on Thursday at Chicago.

FoxSports - Ranking 2 (Last Week 1)

Comments: They aren't unbeaten anymore, but with the scheduling what it is in MLS, FCD were going to drop points sooner or later.

The Score - Ranking 2 (Last Week 1)

Comments: FC Dallas suffered its very first loss of the 2017 season at the hands of San Jose, and with it, every team in MLS has now tasted defeat. Game on.

Soccer America - Ranking 4 (Last Week 3)

Comments: San Jose gets some credit for denying FCD a shot on goal until the 75thminute, yet such reliables such as Max Urruti just didn’t look sharp enough to contend with an inspired foe. Next up is a very tough test at Chicago.
