Workhorse of the Week vs. San Jose Earthquakes

That stinks. FC Dallas is downed at home by San Jose, 1-0. Vote for your Workhorse of the Week.

MLS: San Jose Earthquakes at FC Dallas Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Matt Hedges won his second straight Workhorse with a bloody face and fearless demeanor for his work against NYCFC. Can he make it three in a row?

FC Dallas lost out on its winning streak with a dismal, disappointing game at home. There’s been a lot of chatter about the game, about the lackluster energy from the crowd, the mistake of starting Javier Morales again, the missed opportunities, and the overall approach to the game. You get to decide whether any of that is true or whether this was one of those games where the bounces went the wrong way or FC Dallas had this coming.

A home loss is unacceptable for this team, but I don’t think they need any of us fans to lecture them about that.

At this point though, we know something is not clicking in the attack. Our opponents have likely adjusted, knowing that Barrios and Urruti and maybe Acosta are the major offensive threats right now. Until someone can get something going - Cristian Colman or Javier Morales or Roland Lamah or even Tesho Akindele - teams may be able to clamp down a bit more on those two and stifle Dallas’ opportunities. I’m not sure what a coach can do to get someone going when there are opportunities to score and the balls just don’t go in. I will predict that we will see the lineup shaken up this week, so maybe fresh faces and legs will do the trick.

I added the option of voting for No One last year because sometimes, there isn’t a workhorse. The whole team doesn’t play up to snuff. Maybe this is one of those games? Maybe no one particularly outworked anyone else. It happens.

I’ll let you decide. If you want to make a case for a player who put in a strong effort even if it wasn’t rewarded, share it in the comments below. For those of you on the fence, read the comments before voting.
