Welcome to another week of Big D Soccer’s coverage of your favorite players with ties to FC Dallas, the FCD Academy, and the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Lee Nguyen had an amazing performance, a former FCD player thrives in Portugal, and several players had their season come to an abrupt end.


Europe

Emerson Hyndman (Bournemouth/EPL):

Fabian Castillo (FCD - Trabzonspor/Super Lig): Castillo suited up and came on in the 63rd minute, as Trabzonspor grabbed a 1-1 draw at Adanaspor.

The draw keeps Trabzonspor in 5th place.

Weston McKennie (AP - Schalke 04/Bundesliga): McKennie started and played 90 minutes as Schalke 04 U19 got a big 3-1 road win against Bayer Munchen U19 in their 1st Leg match of the U19 Bundesliga Final Series.

McKennie started and played 90 minutes in the 2nd Leg against FC Bayer Munchen. It was a thriller, that saw FC Bayer Munchen rally from being down 3+1 on aggregate to score a 4-2 victory, and force a PK Shootout. FC Bayer Munchen would go on to a a 5-4 PK victory, thus ending Schalke 04’s season.

Schalke 04 U19 vs FC Bayer Munchen U19 (2nd Leg)

David Texeira (FCD - Vitoria Guimaraes/Primeira Liga): Texeira started and played 90 minutes. Vitoria Guimaraes suffered a 5-0 loss at Portuguese power house Benfica.

Vitoria Guimaraes is currently 4th place in Primeira Liga.


Mexico

Hector Montalvo (AP - Tigres UANL/Liga MX): Started and played 90 minutes for Tigres UANL Sub 20 in the 1st Leg, of the Sub 20 Clausura Playoffs Quarterfinals. Tigres UANL was able to get a favorable 0-0 draw on the road against Necaxa Sub 20.

Started on Saturday for Tigres UANL Sub 20 in the 2nd Leg at home against Necaxa Sub 20. In the 28th minute, Hector scored the series winner, and Tigres would tack on three more for a resounding 4-0 victory.

Tigres UANL win the series with a 4-0 aggregate score, and advance to the semifinals where they will play 7th seeded Guadalajara.

Rogelio Funes Mori (DFW - Monterrey/Liga MX): Started and played 90 minutes and did not score against Tigres UANL in the 1st Leg of the Clausura Quarterfinals. The series got off to a horrible start for Los Rayados, as Tigres UANL simply dominated them on the way to handing Monterrey a 4-1 loss on the road.

Rogelio started and played 90 minutes as Monterrey was soundly beaten 2-0 at home by Tigres UANL.

Monterrey lost the series by a 6-1 aggregate score, and their season is now over.

Tigres UANL vs Monterrey (2nd Leg) - Abbreviated Match (15 minutes)

Alejandro Zendejas (FCD/AP - Guadalajara/Liga MX): Started as a forward in the 4-4-2 for Chivas Sub 20, at Monterrey Sub 20 in the Liga MX Sub 20 Clausura Playoffs Quarterfinals. Zendejas did not score, but still played 91 minutes as Chivas scored a stunning 2-0 win over Playoff favorites Monterrey.

Started on Saturday and played 90 minutes for Chivas Sub 20, as they defeated Monterrey 1-0 at home.

Chivas wins the series with a 3-0 aggregate score and advance to the semifinals, where they will play Tigres UANL.


Central America & South America

Moises Hernandez (FCD/AP - C.S.D. Comunicaciones/Guatemala): Hernandez started and played 90 minutes, as Comunicaciones lost 0-1 at Suchitepequez, in the 1st Leg of the Clausura Playoffs Quarterfinals.

Started on Sunday in the 2nd Leg at home against Suchitepequez, as Los Cremas were held to a scoreless draw.

The draw sees Comunicaciones lose the series 1-0 on aggregate, and their season is now over.

Blas Perez (FCD - Club Blooming/Bolivia): Perez did not suit up due to card accumulation. Club Blooming would go on to lose 3-1 at Wilstermann.

The loss drops Club Blooming into 4th place.

Anibal Chala (FCD - LDU Quito [Loan]/Ecuador): Chala arrived in Quito on Tuesday, and was introduced to the public:

Chala is not expected to be cleared to play for another three to four weeks.


Major League Soccer

Lee Nguyen (DFW - New England Revolution): Lee started on Saturday against hapless Real Salt Lake, and proceeded to have the best game of his season so far:

Lee had an assist on each of the first two goals, and also scored the final goal of the match. New England would post a 4-0 home victory, and move to 7th place in the Eastern Conference.

Greg Garza (DFW - Atlanta United FC): Did not suit up as an injury precaution. Atlanta United FC would earn a 1-1 draw at Seattle Sounders.

The draw sees Atlanta United FC to 8th place in the Eastern Conference

Mikey Ambrose (AP - Atlanta United FC): Suited up and came on to close out the final 17 minutes of the match, helping AUFC earn a point on the road with a 1-1 draw.

Jared Jeffrey (DFW - D.C. United): Started and played the entire first half, before being subbed off to start the second half. DC United would go on to suffer a humiliating 4-0 home loss at the hands of the Philadelphia Union.

The loss sees DCU fall to 9th place in the Eastern Conference.

Dillon Powers (DFW - Colorado Rapids): Started and played 90 minutes, as Colorado had their most complete game of the season in a 3-0 home victory against the San Jose Earthquakes.

The win sees Colorado remain dead last in MLS.


USL & NASL (All USL Games are available for replay on USL YouTube)

Corben Bone (DFW - Cincinnati FC): Started and played 90 minutes in Cincinnati FC’s 2-0 home loss to Orlando City B.

The loss sees Cincinnati FC drop to 9th place in the Eastern Conference.

Stephen McCarthy (DFW - San Antonio FC): Started and played 90 minutes, as San Antonio FC remained undefeated with a 0-0 home draw against Seattle Sounders II.

San Antonio FC remains 1st in the Western Conference, and is now the only undefeated team remaining in the USL.

Devin Vega (AP - San Antonio FC): Suited up and came on in the 58th minute, as San Antonio FC remained undefeated with a 0-0 home draw against Seattle Sounders II.

San Antonio FC remains 1st in the Western Conference, and is now the only undefeated team remaining in the USL.

Ruben Luna (FCD/AP - RGVFC Toros): Suited up and came on in the minute, as RGVFC won 1-0 at home against Swope Park Rangers.

The win sees RGVFC move into 5th place in the Western Conference.

Conor Doyle (DFW - Puerto Rico FC): Suited up but did not play in Puerto Rico FCs 4-3 loss against the New York Cosmos.
