The FC Dallas U-18s played their second game in as many days against Liga MX side Monterrey, and rolled out basically the same lineup they used to beat Everton in the Dallas Cup on Sunday.
The only starter missing from Sundays 5-0 victory, was Shaft Brewer, who eventually subbed in at the 53rd minute for Evans.
Monterrey Rayados were playing their first game of the Dallas Cup, and used their fresh legs to press the attack early. FCD had to survive the onslaught for the first 30 minutes or so, before turning the tide.
In the 37th minute, Jesus Ferreira would force a turnover from a Rayados defender, finding himself 1 v 1 against the goalkeeper. The FCD Homegrown would not be denied, blasting a low right shot past the keeper to give.
Monterey would equalize in the 63rd minute. FCD would press for the victory the rest of the match, only to be thwarted by a MOTM performance by the Rayados GK. FCD would have to settle for a hard fought 1-1 draw, but remain undefeated in the group.
The draw sets up a "must win" match Wednesday night at 5pm against Maccabi Haifa FC (Israel). Maccabi Haifa FC lost 0-1 against Everton earlier the same day.
