Rankings Recap: FC Dallas climbs after Week 1 win

Love them or hate them, Power Rankings are always a fun discussion point.

MLS: FC Dallas at Los Angeles Galaxy Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

FC Dallas opened up the first week of MLS play with a big 2-1 road win against the LA Galaxy. The result has earned FC Dallas and a certain rising young midfielder, a lot of praise.

MLS - Ranking 1 (Last Week 3)

Comment: It looks like Kellyn Acosta has made The Leap™ from "Talented Young Starter" to "Potential Best XI Candidate." Dallas are the best team in the league right now, and he's been their best player.

ESPNFC - Ranking 1 (Last Week 2)

Comment: Give Oscar Pareja perfect marks for the way he navigated the Champions League and a trip to Los Angeles, all in a week in and a half. Perfect start for the Supporters Shield holders.

Goal - Ranking 1 (Last Week 1)

Dallas remains on top after a convincing 2-1 victory in LA. If Kellyn Acosta has added goals to his considerable bag of tricks, then this team just got a whole lot scarier.

Sports Illustrated - Ranking 1 (Last Week 2)

Comment: Oscar Pareja’s machine just keeps on rolling. After advancing to the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals earlier in the week, Dallas’ 2–1 win at the LA Galaxy gets the new season off to the best possible start. New winger Roland Lamah delivered the game-winning assist, and 21-year-old Kellyn Acosta was a two-way force in midfield, scoring said winner.

SoccerAmerica - Rankings 2 (Last Week 3)

Comment: The most impressive result of the weekend given the opponent, venue, and perceived caliber of opponent. Debutant Roland Lamah caused the Galaxy plenty of problems on the flank and set up Kellyn Acosta to nail the winning goal after L.A. had matched Max Urruti’s opening goal with a penalty kick.
