El futbol ya regresa para MLS! A chilly Saturday afternoon here in Dallas, as sunny LA looked to be much better in the weather category this day than us. The season opener looked be on an awesome day there in Los Angeles, but the game turned out to be even better! The last time FC Dallas didn’t win their season openers was the memorable 2010 season when they tied the Dynamo in Houston. There was some disjointed play among both teams, and a few weird officiating decisions but overall a solid performance from our boys in red against a team that we normally don’t do too well against in their house.
What game was the ref watching?
Man there were some frustrating decisions during this game. How many yellows should LA have received for many of the tackles they delivered? Then the penalty call, what a hilarious way to give the Galaxy some way back into the match. Although, there was a from-behind tackle from Hedges during the second half that I thought for sure was going to be a red card. So maybe it balanced out?
Very promising start
Pleasing soccer to watch even from home from Los Torros, and the 4-4-2 definitely seemed to be a decent formation to use until the Mighty Mauro Diaz gets back. Our attack looked a threat until a little after Kellyn Acosta’s goal, when it seemed like we were content with defending the lead. Absolutely nervy moments there at the end when the Galaxy were just pumping balls into the box. Thankfully we had Hedges and Zimmerman there to counter their Van Damme as CF attempt.
All in all great start, super entertaining to watch yet again, and hoping we can bring that level of intensity consistently throughout the season. Especially with a road match in SKC before hosting Omar Gonzalez’ Pachuca.
Does anyone actually agree with the penalty decision even a little bit? Who thought the success of the 4-4-2 might be a flash in the pan? Have you bought tickets to the Pachuca game yet? Seriously, go buy some. Let me know in the comments below!!
