The second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League match between FC Dallas and Pachuca draws closer, with April 4, just around the corner. Pachuca is considered to have the best Academy in Liga MX (and CONCACAF), while FC Dallas is considered to have the best Academy in MLS. With both teams stocked with young talent, a growing number of European clubs have reportedly dispatched scouts to witness the encounter. Just who are these clubs, and who exactly are they interested in?

Real Club Celta de Vigo - La Liga

Celta Vigo has made it known that they are very interested in “Chucky” Lozano. The Pachuca Left Winger, missed the first leg in Frisco, and is currently back to full training with the team. Many are speculating that Lozano could go for a Liga MX record breaking transfer.

VFB Stuttgart - 2. Bundesliga

The 2. Bundesliga team has dispatched scouts to the SCCL match between Pachuca and FC Dallas. The team is currently in 2nd place, and has a very real chance to gain promotion to the Bundesliga. They are rumoured to be very interested in USMNT defender and FCD favorite Walker Zimmerman. It should be pointed out that VFB Stuttgart was the previous team of Carlos Gruezo.

Schalke 04 - Bundesliga

Schalke 04 has in the past, shown interest in Pachuca’s “Chucky” Lozano, so he is likely one of the players they are scouting. On FCD’s side, three players are rumored to have drawn their interest: Maxi Urruti, Walker Zimmerman, and Kellyn Acosta.

It should be pointed out that Schalke 04 is the current team of FCD Academy product Weston McKennie, who in his first season, has impressed the team sufficiently to be named captain of their 1st place U19 squad and recently started for the senior team in a friendly match.

AFC Ajax - Eredivisie

The team from Amsterdam has in the past, made a failed 12 million dollar bid for Pachuca’s “Chucky” Lozano, but that’s reportedly not who they will be scouting at the game. Ajax is said to be in need of Summer defensive reinforcements, and have reportedly dispatched scouts around the world to follow their top three targets. One of those players is none other than Walker Zimmerman, who’s rise to the USMNT has drawn the interest of several teams.

RSC Anderlecht - Belgian First Division A

The first place Belgian team is said to be interested in the three FCD players drawing the most attention, Maxi Urruti, Kellyn Acosta, and Walker Zimmerman. There is also the rumor that they may actually be at the game to scout Carlos Gruezo. The Belgian club, was once the former home of Roland Lamah.

With a little over a week left before Pachuca and FC Dallas finally meet in the second leg of the SCCL, there’s a very real probability that other European scouts may yet flock to their match. Hannover 96 from the 2. Bundesliga, for example, has recently been rumored to be interested in Zimmerman, so they may yet send a scout.

FC Dallas and Pachuca players harbouring dreams of playing in Europe, are faced with an excellent opportunity to impress. As the stakes get higher by day, the time is right, to have the game of their young careers.
