Rankings Recap: FC Dallas opens season strong

Love them or hate them, Power Rankings are always a fun discussion point.

MLS: Arabe Unido at FC Dallas Ray Carlin-USA TODAY Sports

FC Dallas opens up the regular season this weekend in LA but first the various publications from around the web have their weekly Power Rankings back out for another season. FC Dallas starts off the season near the top in all of them.

MLS - Ranking 3 (last week n/a)

Comment: They have already shown how great they could be this year by demolishing Arabe Unido in the first leg of their CCL quarterfinal matchup. Cristian Colman and Roland Lamah look like the real deal and the base of Kellyn Acosta, Carlos Gruezo, Matt Hedges and Walker Zimmerman should be more than enough to keep them as Cup contenders without Mauro Diaz.

ESPNFC - Ranking 2 (last week n/a)

Comment: No Mauro Diaz, no problem. If FC Dallas' 4-0 CONCACAF Champions League thrashing of Arabe Unido is anything to go by, Oscar Pareja's team looks like an MLS Cup contender even without its injured Argentine playmaker.

Goal.com - Ranking 1 (last week n/a)

Comment: It's easy to see why Goal's editors almost unanimously voted FC Dallas in the No. 1 slot.

The Texas club is built for success, featuring exciting young homegrown talent and bolstered by clever foreign signings. It's all brought together by head coach Oscar Pareja, who has shown the ability to put together a highly competitive squad wherever he goes.

Dallas won two of the three domestic trophies available last year, and the club has gotten off to a bright start in the CONCACAF Champions League knockout round. Can FCD top last season's trophy haul?
