We’ve all been waiting a while for this to happen but on Thursday night United Stated men’s national team manager Bruce Arena confirmed it. Walker Zimmerman will get the start in the defense for the US against regional rivals Jamaica.

Zimmerman will get his first cap with the senior national team. As a youth, Zimmerman played on several Youth National Teams before joining FC Dallas in 2013. He was called in to the U-23 National Team last season for the Olympic qualifier playoff match at Toyota Stadium, but did not see playing time in the match.

The Georgia native was the lone player left of a trio of FC Dallas players that went to the January camp. Matt Hedges and Kellyn Acosta had to pull out due to injuries before the Serbia friendly last week.

Kickoff Friday at Finley Stadium is set for 6 p.m. CT, and the match will be broadcast live on FS1 and UniMas (simulcast on UDN).
