The Chaaaaaampions!

MLS: Philadelphia Union at FC Dallas Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

FC Dallas opens their 2017 campaign with the CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinal match against Panama champions Arabe Unido. The staff will doing their predictions with bragging rights, a trip to MLS Cup Final (kidding, maybe) and a six pack of our favorite beverage of choice all on the line.

Scoring has been simplified to account for my laziness in tracking this mess. Rules as follows:

  • Correct Result: 1 point
  • Correct scoreline: 2 points

The staff are feeling pretty optimistic about this one:

FCD Match Predictions

Name Result for FCD FCD Score Opposition Score Commentary
Name Result for FCD FCD Score Opposition Score Commentary
Ben Lyon Win 3 1 Dallas use their size and tilt of the field to sandwich an Urruti goal with two set piece scores.
Cody Gamond Win 4 1 Starts with an Arabe goal, but Urruti, Barrios, Gruezo, and Colman net 4 unanswered goals to settle it.
Drew Epperly Win 3 1 A strong start is fueled by Barrios and Acosta.
El Chico Carmona Win 3 1 I look for a close 1st half, with FCD taking a 1-0 lead. Things get extra chippy in the second half, and both teams score set piece goals. Tesho scores a late goal, to end a good showing for FCD.
Jack Hazzard Win 2 0 FC Dallas kick off 2017 the right way with a convincing CCL win! Goals from Urutti and Akindele.
Jared Tilley Win 2 1 FCD comes out a bit slow and is caught out on the counter early in the match to put the squad in an early hole. The team is able to rally back and pick up 2 goals, one through Urruti and one through Hedges on a set piece. FCD heads to Panama with a slight advantage.
Jason Poon Win 2 0 Things start out a bit slow for both sides, but Urruti pounces on a defensive error to open the scoring late in the first half. Lamah seals the victory courtesy of a 80th minute counter.
Mohammad Bushnaq Win 2 1 This will be a hard-fought match but FCD will come out on top at home.
Nathan "The Legendary One" Hill Win 2 0 It's nervy but FC Dallas puts together two scrappy goals to feel good about the next leg.
Phil Luetchford Win 2 0 FC Dallas is the better team and the Argentina preseason trip prepared them well. Dallas takes a comfortable two-goal lead into the second leg without conceding a precious away goal.
Scott Hiney Win 2 0 FC Dallas looks very disconnected early, but have the pace and chemistry to get by until more formidable attacks take shape in the second half. Lamah and Urruti score.
