FCD 101 - Introduction

New, 7 comments

A new series for folks that are new to the game, the club and the league.

MLS: Playoffs-Seattle Sounders FC at FC Dallas Ray Carlin-USA TODAY Sports

Here at Big D Soccer, we are going to be starting a new section called FCD 101. It is going to be geared towards the new soccer/FC Dallas fan. We want to have a place for newcomers to come and learn about the club while also minimizing the learning curve of the team and league. By offering this, we hope that it allows FC Dallas fans to be able to connect better with the club we all love.

I remember when I first started to follow FC Dallas and soccer in general. Being an all around sport’s fan, I thought it was going to be an easy transition into a soccer or futbol, if you may. However, the more I learned, the more I realized I knew nothing about this game. I spent a good three to four months reading everything I could about FC Dallas and MLS. I wanted to know the ins-and-outs of the club and league but found it hard to find information that was helpful. Over time, I was able to become very knowledgeable about my new favorite sport, but it wasn’t without a lot of work and time consumed.

Our goal is to bring information to new fans in a clear, concise and easy to find way. We will be creating a new tab section that will allow readers to share and point new fans to. By doing this, we hope new fans will be able to easily learn about the club and the league and thus become bigger fans of the sport we all love.

The breakdown of the new sections will be posted below.

  • Club History/FCD Alumni
  • Roster structure/rules
  • League Competitions
  • Rivals
  • Greatest Matches
  • Gameday Experience/ Supporters Groups
  • Who to follow on Social Media/podcasts to listen to
  • How to watch games

Stay tuned to Big D Soccer as we roll this out and point any new fans of the club to it. We are all in this together and want to see this club grow and reach its full potential.
