Hoops Home & Abroad: Keaton Park makes Primeira Liga debut

Keaton finally got his long awaited league debut with Benfica

Keaton finally makes his Primeira Liga debut, Super Raton fall short of a league title, and Weston’s team continues to roll.


Weston McKennie (AP - Schalke 04/Bundesliga): Weston suited up Saturday, at Eintracht Frankfurt. Weston did not enter the match until the 80th minute, with Schalke 04 down 2-0, and their 11-match unbeaten streak looking all but over.

Schalke would rally for a 2-2 draw, and while Weston was not directly involved in both scoring plays, he was part of the group effort that leads to the improbable rally.

The draw extends Schalke 04’s unbeaten streak to 12 matches and keeps Schalke 04 2nd place in the Bundesliga.

Weston suited up Tuesday, as Schalke 04 hosted Koln, in the 3rd round of the DFB Pokal (German Cup). Weston came on in the 79th minute, with Schalke 04 looking to hold on to a 1-0 lead. Schalke 04 would hold on for the 1-0 victory and advances to the final stage of the DFB Pokal. The win also sees Schalke 04, extend their unbeaten streak to 13 matches.

Keaton Parks (DFW - Benfica II/Segunda Liga): Keaton suited up for the 1st team on Sunday, at Tondela. Keaton made his Primeira Liga debut for Benfica, coming into the match in the 84th minute. Benfica would win 5-1.

The win keeps Benfica 3rd place in the Primeira Liga Table.

Keaton suited up Wednesday, in Portugal Cup action, against visiting Portimonense. Keaton would come into the match in the 62nd minute, with Benfica leading 2-1. Benfica would concede a late goal and have to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Emerson Hyndman (DFW - AFC Bournemouth): Emerson suited up for the Cherries, Wednesday in Carabao Cup action, at Chelsea. AFC Bournemouth would go on to lose 2-1, and Emerson would again fail to see any minutes for the Cherries.

Fabian Castillo (FCD - Trabzonspor/Super Lig): Fabian suited up, but did not play Saturday, as Trabzonspor defeated visiting Bursaspor 1-0.

The win extends the Trabzonspor unbeaten streak to 10 matches, with 9 of those matches outright victories, and currently 7 wins in a row. Trabzonspor remains 7th place in the Super Lig Table, Just 5 points out of 1st place.

Nicholas Hagen (AP - Municipal/Guatemala), Blas Perez (FCD - Municipal/Guatemala): Nick and Blas both started Thursday, in the Away Leg of the Liga Nacional Final against visiting Antigua GFC. Municipal would have to rally for a 1-1 draw, following an own goal in the first half.

Nick and Blas both started Sunday, in the Home Leg of the Liga Nacional Final at Antigua GFC. Municipal would fall short of the title, losing 2-1 to Antigua GFC.

Moises Hernandez (FCD/AP - Comunicaciones/Guatemala): No match scheduled this week.

Anibal Chala (FCD - LDU Quito, Loan/Ecuador): Anibal started Sunday in the Home Leg of the Copa Sudamericana, against visiting Tecnico Universitario. Chala played the full match, as LDU Quito secured a spot in the Copa Sudamericana with a 3-3 draw and a series victory by an aggregate score of 5-4.

The season has concluded, and Anibal Chala’s loan with LDU Quito, concludes December 31.
