Maurer returns to Dallas after a brief loan spell in 2017

FC Dallas announced today the signing of goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer from NASL’s New York Cosmos. If Maurer’s name sounds familiar, it’s because he was brought in for a quick loan spell last summer to back up Chris Seitz while Jesse Gonzalez was away on international duty.

Maurer is considered to be one of NASL’s best keepers, having been named to NASL’s Best XI in 2014. Maurer has 45 career shutouts in 123 NASL appearances for the NY Cosmos and the Atlanta Silverbacks.

This gives Dallas two keepers (if you’re not counting Ryan Hollingshead). Dallas might add a third but may continue with their two keeper experiment that they managed to do in 2017.
