Keaton’s ascent in Portugal continues.

Welcome to another week of Big D Soccer’s coverage of your favorite players with ties to FC Dallas, the FCD Academy, and the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Everyone was talking about Keaton Parks this week, Weston continues to impress in the Bundesliga, and Fabian Castillo is in excellent form.

Weston McKennie (AP - Schalke 04/Bundesliga): Weston started Sunday, against visiting Hamburger SV. Weston had a strong game during the 2-0 Schalke 04 victory.

On offense, McKennie had 75.6% pass completion on 41 passes, 3 shots on goal, with 1 cross, and 1 key pass. On defense, McKennie had 3 tackles, 2 clearances, and 2 interceptions.

The win is Schalke 04’s 5th, in their current seven-match unbeaten streak, and sees them climb to 2nd place in the Bundesliga Table.

Next up for Schalke 04, is the Rivierderby against visiting Borussia Dortmund. This is a must watch match, for USMNT fans around the world, as it pits 2 of the USMNT’s brightest young stars. This will be the very first encounter, between Schalke 04’s Weston McKennie, and Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic. Dortmund enters on a 5 match winless streak, that has seen them drop to 5th place in the Bundesliga Table.

Instead of telling you how Keaton did, how about you see for yourself:

Keaton was solid in his debut, and most importantly, did not look out of place. His “sudden” emergence, has many USMNT fans excited/intrigued. Let’s pump the breaks on any USMNT call-ups, Keaton still has ways to go, and may not truly be USMNT ready til next season, or until he get’s regular minutes with the Benfica 1st team.

Castillo had his best match of the season, playing the full match, which was not decided until the 94th minute. Here’s a video of Castillo’s highlights for the match:

The much-needed win is the 3rd in Trabzonspor current four-match unbeaten run and sees Trabzonspor to 11th place in the Super Lig Table.

In spite of the growing rumors, Castillo has been on an “I’m happy, I’m staying” tour with the press.
