Hoops Home & Abroad: Weston climbing the USMNT ranks?

Weston McKennie continues to raise his chances of getting a USMNT call up.

Weston continues to shine in Germany, Parks can’t shake his “minor injury”, and Blas continues his scoring slump.


Europe

Weston McKennie (AP - Schalke 04/Bundesliga): Weston suited up Sunday against visiting Wolfsburg. Weston came on in the 77th minute, with his team attempting to hold on to 1-0 lead. Schalke 04 allowed a stunning last minute goal in the 93rd minute, and was forced to settle for the 1-1 draw.

The draw, keeps Schalke 04 in 5th place on the Bundesliga Table, just 6 points out of 1st.

Benfica II hosted Santa Clara, Wednesday morning.

David Texeira (FCD - Vitoria Guimaraes/Primeira Liga): David suited up, but did not play in Sunday’s 3-1 victory at Desportivo Aves.

The win sees Vitoria Guimaraes climb to 8th place in the Primeira Liga Table.

Fabian Castillo (FCD - Trabzonspor/Super Lig): Fabian suited up Sunday against visiting Galatasaray. It was a foul mired match that saw both teams lose a player to a red card in the 45th minute. Trabzonspor would go on to gain a 2-1 victory, that saw Fabian sub in to the match in the 93rd minute, by which time Galatasaray was down to 9 men with the match pretty much over.

The win sees Trabzonspor climb to 11th place in the Super Lig Table.

Mexico - Apertura Torneo

Rogelio Funes Mori (DFW - Monterrey/Liga MX): Rogelio did not suit up in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over visiting America.

The win keeps Los Rayados 1st place in the Liga MX Table.

Monterrey hosted Santos Laguna, Wednesday in Copa MX action.

Alejandro Zendejas (FCD/AP - Atletico Zacatepec/Ascenso MX): Alex started Saturday against visiting Universidad Guadalajara. Alex played the full match, as Zacatepec got the 2-0 victory.

The win sees Atletico Zacatepec jumpt to 5th place in the Ascenso MX Table.

Blas Perez (FCD) & Nicholas Hagen (AP - Municipal/Guatemala): Nick & Blas both started Sunday against visiting Deportivo Petapa. The Municipal attack continued to struggle, and Municipal lost 1-0. Municipal now finds itself in a 4 match winless streak (0-1-3), which has seen them score just 1 goal in that time.

The loss drops Municipal to 7th place in the Liga Nacional Table.

Moises Hernandez (FCD/AP - Comunicaciones/Guatemala): Moises started Sunday at Suchitepequez. Moises started at Center Back, and played the full match. Los Cremas earned a 2-2 draw,, and now climb back to 5th place in the Liga Nacional Table.

Anibal Chala (FCD - LDU Quito, Loan/Ecuador): Anibal started Saturday at Barcelona SC. Chala played 86 minutes, and LDU Quito lost 2-0.

Greg Garza (DFW - Atlanta United FC): Greg did not suit up due to injury, and Atlanta was eliminated from the playoffs following a 0-0 draw that lead to a 3-1 loss on PKs.

Stephen McCarthy (DFW), Connor Presley (AP - San Antonio FC): McCarthy started Saturday as San Antonio hosted the Oklahoma City Energy in a USL Western Conference Semifinal. San Antonio would be eliminated 4-1 on PKs following a 1-1 draw.
