Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down: Is Ryan Hollingshead worth saving?

The Humanitarian of the Year deserves another season with FCD right?

MLS: Houston Dynamo at FC Dallas Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Thanks to the international window, things have been quiet around here so it is time to continue on with our offseason FC Dallas roster evaluations with Ryan Hollingshead.

What Hollingshead brings to the table

We know the impact that he brings off the field. Hollingshead won the league’s Humanitarian of the Year award for his heroics last January. But we won’t dwell on that too much here as we need to look at what he brings to the field.

Due to that night in January, Hollingshead didn’t make it to the field until mid-May when he appeared off the bench against New York City. Following that he appeared in 15 more games, making nine starts. He didn’t score any goals or contribute any assists this season.

Hollingshead spent much of his time on the field at right back but he did see time on the left side of the field and in the midfield. When he did start the team went 4-3-2.

Salary impact

I think had he not been injured for the first portion of the season, we probably would have seen more of Hollingshead on the field. His $132k salary is also pretty solid as it doesn’t break the bank in any fashion.

Final thoughts

Honestly, I think his pluses out weight his minuses. Not to mention he is the type of depth piece you want to have in this league. I don’t think he’s an every game starter anymore but what he can bring off the bench is good enough to keep.

But I give this one up to you all to decide. Keep him or move on?

Should FC Dallas keep Ryan Hollingshead for another season?
