Decision Day came with a wild finish as FC Dallas picked up a 5-1 win over the LA Galaxy. Unfortunately for Dallas they won’t make it into the playoffs as the San Jose Earthquakes picked up a stoppage time goal to help secure their spot in the post season.
FC Dallas got two goals from Roland Lamah, one from Matt Hedges and Michael Barrios. Mauro Diaz chipped in a goal and two assists in the season finale win.
FC Dallas began the match slow as LA got on the board two minutes into the game on a corner kick from Romain Alessandrini. The LA Designated Player floated a ball into the box where Michael Ciani was wide open to head home the game’s first goal.
FC Dallas pushed for an equalizer in the 13th minute on a nice cross from Hernan Grana on the right side of the field. Grana floated a ball across goal to Lamah, who then headed a ball into Galaxy keeper Clement Diop, forcing a a corner kick.
Dallas finally equalized in the 37th minute on a goal from Lamah. Carlos Gruezo set up the play as he made a move around Alessandrini before hitting a ball to Lamah who cooly hammered a shot past Diop for his 10th goal of the season.
FCD took the lead in the 42nd minute on a goal from Hedges. Ryan Hollingshead curled in a ball from the left side to Lamah, focing Diop to make a stop. Fortunately for Dallas fans, Hedges was there to put home the rebound to give Dallas the lead.
Lamah added his second of the game shortly after halftime on a corner kick from Mauro Diaz. Lamah was well positioned at the top portion of the six-yard box to head home his second of the game.
FC Dallas added a fourth in the 68th minute from Barrios. Diaz added his second assist of the game as he found Barrios wide open on the right wing. Barrios took the ball into the box and then fired a shot past Diop for his third goal of the season.
Things continued to go bad for LA as Diop was issued a red card in the 70th minute for taking down Kellyn Acosta in the penalty box on a breakaway. Diop was issed a straight red for the foul. Diaz stepped up to the ensuing penalty kick and scored.
FC Dallas ends the season with a 11-10-13 record.
