In a must-win game, FC Dallas came up short in a big way as they were downed 4-0 by the Seattle Sounders.

The loss, along with the results in Vancouver and Colorado push Dallas below the playoff line.

Seattle tested the Dallas defense early with Clint Dempsey in the 12th minute. Jovein Jones set up the play on the right side of the field. He then put in a cross into the box where Dempsey forced Jesse Gonzalez into a tough save.

Seattle found the back of the net 31 minutes in thanks to a couple deflections by the Dallas defense. Nicolas Lodeiro played the ball into the middle of the field where one deflection landed at Dempsey’s feet. The veteran then played in Victor Rodriguez into the box where he beat Gonzalez at the near post.

Seattle doubled their lead in the 64th minute thanks to a tap in from Will Bruin. Dempsey put in a hard shot on goal that Gonzalez punched down to Bruin’s feet for the rebound.

Seattle got another insurance goal minutes later in the 67th minute with another easy goal from Bruin.

The Sounders added a fourth goal in stoppage time thanks to Lamar Neagle. The veteran Sounder had a wide open header thanks to a great cross from Lodeiro.

Dallas struggled to get anything forward into the attack as Oscar Pareja began the game with Michael Barrios as a lone forward. Seattle limited Dallas to just two shots on goal in the match.

FC Dallas returns to the field next week as they wrap up the regular season against the LA Galaxy.
