FC Dallas revealed on Monday that defender Ryan Hollingshead was in a car accident last Friday, January 6 in Irving. Hollingshead was struck directly by a car causing fractures to three different vertebras. Hollingshead was providing assistance to another car that was in an accident when he was hit. He will be required to wear a neck brace for the next six to eight weeks.

According to the press release, these are stable fractures, meaning they do not risk spinal cord damage or loss of function. Hollingshead will not require surgery.

Hollingshead was discharged from a DFW-area hospital on Sunday evening and is recovering at home.

If you all recall, locally the roads were a bit icy last Friday and they are being reported as the cause of the accident. It is definitely a scary thing to hear of anyone going through a car accident, especially one during icy conditions.

We here at BDS wish Ryan a speedy recovery during this time. Hopefully he will be back and ready to go later this spring.
