Trabzonspor of the Turkish first division completed the full transfer for Fabian Castillo this afternoon ahead of a Saturday deadline to complete the deal. FC Dallas confirmed the sale Friday evening.
Castillo’s departure in July fueled angst and discontent in the fanbase as well as the management. Nothing sums it up better than this note from Carter Baum.
FC Dallas will split the 1 million Euro final payment with the league in a some combination of cash and allocation money earmarked for player signings. This also goes into the $3 million they got for the loan in the summer.
The move also opens up Designated Player spot which will allow the club to target a premium impact player with a little over six weeks until the CCL quarterfinals kick off against Arabe Unido. We (ok, at least I) wish Fabi and successful spring in Turkey, if for no other reason, maybe we’ll get a sell on fee if he blows up. Knock em’ dead, Pikachu.
