Oklahoma City Energy FC sign Danish midfielder Philip Rasmussen

The midfielder has spent eight years in Denmark’s top division.

The Oklahoma City Energy FC has announced the signing Danish midfielder Philip Rasmussen for the 2017 USL season – pending league and federation approval.

The 27-year-old has spent his whole career floating around in Denmark’s first division, playing for Superliga clubs such as FC Nordsjaelland, Viborg FF, FC Vestajaelland, and Lyngby BK.

The six-foot-tall midfielder previously played for Lyngby BK, where he made 101 appearances and scored four goals.

“He will provide a good, physical presence in our midfield,” said Energy FC Head Coach Jimmy Nielsen. “He is technically and tactically on a very high level. He’s a typical box-to-box midfielder. He is aware of his defensive responsibilities and not afraid of joining the offensive attack. Coming from the Danish Superliga, the highest level in Danish soccer, I expect him to come with hunger and be a difference maker for our club.”

“I had some good conversations with Jimmy and also my former teammate Danni König. And after speaking with them there was no doubt,” said Rasmussen. ”It’s a big experience for me to live in a new country and play in a new league. My expectation for the 2017 season is to win a championship. So I can’t wait to meet all my new teammates, coaches and fans.”
