Big D Soccer has learned that former FC Dallas defender Aubrey David could yet again head out on loan.
I've been told that former FC Dallas defender Aubrey David will be loaned out again by Saprissa due to their lack of international spots.— Jack Hazzard (@JTHazzard) January 2, 2017
According to a source, the defender’s parent club Saprissa has run out of international roster spots, resulting in David either transferring or being loaned out.
The 26-year-old Trinidad and Tobago international spent the 2016 MLS season in Dallas, playing in five regular season matches (starting in four).
David brought FC Dallas both depth and defensive versatility in the backline. The Saprissa defender was able to play any position on the backline, making him a valuable asset during Dallas’ US Open Cup Run.
In a December interview with the Trinidad and Tobago Guardian, David spoke about his current situation, stating his intention to play with Saprissa.
“The situation as it is right now, is that I could head back to Saprissa because I am still under contract with the club or I could go somewhere else on loan depending on what options they take up. The season at Dallas was quite positive for me. It was good to get a change in settings and to experience a league that is continuing to grow,” David said.
“But yes, going back to Saprissa is a possibility and of course, I have a good relationship there with the team and the fans so it will not be a step down in anyway because its a big club in Concacaf.”
Whether or not David’s future remains in Costa Rica or Dallas, the 26-year-old defender provides clubs with devoted role player who will provide energy on the field. It would be a shock to learn that no other Major League Soccer team has had their eye on the defender.
