The Oklahoma City Energy FC have announced the signing of center back Michael Daly for the 2017 season, pending USL and U.S. Soccer Federation approval.
Daly joins the Energy after a brief stint with NASL side Carolina Railhawks, where he made 17 total appearances for the side. The 29-year-old center back has previously spent time in the USL, playing with clubs such as the Wilmington Hammerheads, Sacramento Republic, and the Bethlehem Steel FC.
The California native played college soccer for California State University in Los Angeles. While with Cal State, Daly earned a spot on the 2009 NCAA Division II All-America 1st team.
“Mickey is a player we’ve had our eyes on for the last couple of seasons,” Energy coach Jimmy Nielsen said. “He has all the skills to be a great center back. Good person, and good leader in the locker room. Due to his successes in the past, he has a winning mentality that will make him a good fit for our club. Nielsen added, "With the addition of Daly, we have three top quality center backs.”
