FC Dallas vs Philadelphia Union: Preview, TV schedule and how to watch online

FC Dallas looks to remain unbeaten in all-time league matches against the Union.

FC Dallas hopes to erase the nasty taste in their mouth from last week’s 4-0 loss to Vancouver this weekend as they travel east to battle the Philadelphia Union.

The Union are coming off a 3-0 loss last weekend in New England.

FC Dallas notes:

Injury update. Right now, the list is empty. Let’s keep it that way.

But you’re suspended. FC Dallas two players out on suspensions again this weekend. Atiba Harris picked up a yellow card in last week’s match against Vancouver, which pushed him over the limit and gave him a yellow card accumulation suspension. And then there is Carlos Gruezo, who got a red card for a pretty rough challenge.

Unbeaten against the Union. Outside of one US Open Cup game a few years ago, the Union have yet to beat FC Dallas in league play. FCD is 5-0-4 in all-time regular season meetings.

Last time around. FC Dallas opened up the 2016 season at home against the Union in a 2-0 win.

When Urruti scores. FC Dallas is 19-0-6 all-time, across all competitions. In the past two MLS seasons FC Dallas is 15-0-6 with Urruti scoring or assisting. Dallas is 4-0-0 in CCL and USOC matches.

Key player for FCD: Mauro Diaz. The Union have a fairly leaky defense that allows plenty of possession (they give up around 53% of the possession each game). Diaz has to begin to make his mark on the team this season here with games like this. He can expose a back line that has given up their fair share of goals in 2017 (27).

Biggest Question: Will last week’s game be the kick in the pants that this group needs?

I’ve mentioned countless times at how this team has played in a neutral gear for most of the season so far. Last week should have been the turn where the season begins to pick up more for the attack and the team overall. But we know how that went in the 4-0 loss. This team has done well on the road this season (only two losses away from home), if they want to keep pace with the league leaders in the East, getting more points on the road has to start here.

Philadelphia Notes:

Key player for Philadelphia: CJ Sapong. If there is anyone on the field that can do damage this weekend for the Union, it may be Sapong. He leads them with 10 goals at the moment.

Injuries: OUT: M Maurice Edu (left ankle/left tibia surgery recovery), F Fabian Herbers (sports hernia surgery recovery); QUESTIONABLE: GK Andre Blake (hand)
