FC Dallas vs Columbus Crew: Preview, TV schedule and how to watch online

The month of August has been rough for FC Dallas, can it end on a good note?

MLS: Columbus Crew SC at FC Dallas Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The end of August is finally here as FC Dallas heads to Ohio to battle the Columbus Crew SC.

Both teams head into this match on different paths as FCD has lost three out of their last five and the Crew are unbeaten in their last three.

FC Dallas notes:

Injury update. Mauro Diaz is back on the injury report with a hamstring issue, he is questionable for this match.

Last time around in league play. These two met a year ago in Frisco where they ended up playing to a 1-1 draw. Plenty has changed since that meeting.

Last time in Columbus. FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja’s favorite victory during his tenure as head coach was a 3-0 win in Columbus on September 6, 2015. The win featured a starting 11 made up of five Homegrown players: Jesse Gonzalez, Kellyn Acosta, Coy Craft, Alejandro Zendejas and Victor Ulloa.

Draws and cards cards. According to the club’s game notes, three of FCD’s five most card-heavy matches this season came in draws against in-conference opponents. Eight cards were handled out in FC Dallas’ 0-0 draw vs. Sporting KC on March 11, seven cards went out in a 3-3 draw vs. Houston on August 23 and six cards were distributed in a 0-0 draw with Colorado on August 12.

Key player for FCD: Maxi Urruti. FC Dallas is 20-0-7 all-time, across all competitions. In the past two MLS seasons FC Dallas is 16-0-7 with Urruti scoring or assisting. Get him on the board somehow.

Biggest Question: How much did Wednesday night drain this club?

Derby games are always a bit emotional for teams but Wednesday certainly had a large amount of highs and lows for FC Dallas in the 3-3 draw to Houston. What Oscar Pareja does to combat the emotional drain will be key in this one as the team hits the road. Either rotating in some fresh players, or finding a clever way to stick to this same formation as Wednesday may be the key in getting any kind of points on the road in this one.

Columbus Notes:

Key player for Columbus: Ola Kamara. His 13 goals and three assists are enough to grab your attention. But he is dangerous off the ball as much as he is on the ball.

QUESTIONABLE: Niko Hansen (R Thigh Strain) Artur (L Thigh Strain), Harrison Afful (R Foot Sprain)

OUT: Waylon Francis (L Thigh Strain)

SEASON-ENDING IR: Gaston Sauro, Ben Swanson
