Both teams are coming off disappointing results over the weekend as Dallas lost in Kansas City, while Houston fell to Vancouver.
FC Dallas notes:
Injury update. Mauro Diaz is back on the injury report with a hamstring issue, he is questionable for this match.
Last time around in league play. These two sides have met twice already in league play with both ending in a draw.
Momentum since 2013 against Houston. Since March 17, 2013, FC Dallas is 6-1-3 against the Dynamo with 22 goals and 13 goals against.
Barrios at home vs away. Nine of Barrios’ 18 career goals have come on the road – nine have been scored at Toyota Stadium. On the flip side, 13 of Barrios’ 14 assists occurred at Toyota Stadium.
Key player for FCD: Maxi Urruti. The offense has struggled in a big way as of late with only one goal in the last four games. Urruti has to be the guy to drive home some chances in this one to help re-ignite the attack.
Biggest Question: Can a rivalry game rekindle the passion for FCD?
We’ve talked a lot lately about how the team has looked over the last few weeks with this dry spell. One of the big things going on is a lack of urgency or passion on the field. The body language of some players has not been great as of late, which is common in a losing streak. Rivalry games have a way of bringing the best out in players and this will hopefully be the case on Wednesday night for FC Dallas as they look to end a four-game winless streak.
Key player for Houston: Alberth Elis. In the 12 games started this season, Elis has brought in seven goals and four assists, making him a dangerous threat on the ball.
OUT: DF George Malki (torn left ACL), MF Charlie Ward (dislocated right patella)
