Squad Selection: What will that backline look like against Portland?

New, 11 comments

Two key players out on national team duty, one big injury sees a lot of changes coming.

MLS: Real Salt Lake at FC Dallas Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

A three-game road trip begins this weekend for FC Dallas as they visit the Portland Timbers on Saturday night.

Dallas is coming off a big 6-2 win last week that saw Roland Lamah get his first hat trick and Jesus Ferreira score his first professional goal. Mauro Diaz also saw more minutes in the match as he notched his first assist of the year.

But how will the lineup look this weekend? The defense is going to be almost unrecognizable with national team call ups and injuries. Does rookie Walker Hume get another start in the back or will Oscar Pareja surprise us with some Homegrown players getting the nod?

Here is what we know going into the match in terms of availability:

OUT: Walker Zimmerman (MCL strain)

QUESTIONABLE: Paxton Pomykal (ankle strain)

LOAN: Anibal Chala (LDU Quito)

International Duty: Matt Hedges (USMNT), Kellyn Acosta (USMNT), Maynor Figueroa (Honduras), Tesho Akindele (Canada)
