FC Dallas vs Real Salt Lake: Match Predictions

Most of us see a trip home with some points in the pocket

MLS: FC Dallas at Real Salt Lake Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

FC Dallas hits the road with a trip to Javier Morales’ old stomping grounds of Salt Lake City, Utah. Real Salt Lake have had a rough start to the season, with the firing of long time head coach Jeff Cassar after just three games into the season. New York Red Bull legend, Mike Petke has stepped in and has done marginally better (2W 1D 3L) in his short tenure but are on a two game skid right now. RSL’s back line has been wrecked by injuries and now a suspension to Chris Schuler puts their defense to the biggest test of the season against FC Dallas.

Dallas rolls in as the last unbeaten team in MLS play for 2017, and will have their full roster at their disposal, minus Mauro Diaz. Dallas has not done well in particular at Rio Tinto, but with Maxi Urruti feeling it and RSL will be forced to start a rookie (predicting Justin Schmidt gets the nod), the staff are optimistic for a positive result.

No changes in the standings last week as everyone predicted incorrectly. (Hey, we can’t be perfect every week.)

The staff are generally optimistic about this one, with Jack going overly ambitious with his 7+ goal prediction. Can clearly tell that his time in Madrid this semester has rubbed off thinking this team has a Ronaldo on it.

Name Result for FCD FCD Score Opposition Score Commentary
Name Result for FCD FCD Score Opposition Score Commentary
Etan Cohn Win 2 1
El Chico Carmona Win 2 1 FCD will get the winning goal right before the game can go to PKs
Mohammad Bushnaq Draw 1 1 FC Dallas pay the penalty and the defending champs bow out of the USOC.
Jared Tilley Win 2 1
Scott Hiney Win 1 1 Maxi sends us to PKs, Hollingshead's take is what seals the victory.
Cody Gamond Win 2 1 Come from behind in extra time after a 1-1 end to the game. Maxi and Ulloa the scorers.
Jeff Loftin Loss 1 1 Unfortunately I think we lose in penalties.
Ryan Scanlon Loss 0 2 I think Kansas City will definitely be wanting this game more as FC Dallas comes out sloppy and really missing Matt Hedges. Sporting is also undefeated in their last 8 games. They'll keep that going here as Rubio and Blessing grab the goals and win for SKC.
Jack Hazzard Win 2 1 KC will be both chippy and arrogant but Urutti will fix that real quick.
Ben Lyon Win 2 1 3 more wins to consecutive silverware. It'll be 2 after tonight.
Drew Epperley Loss 1 1 I think the game will end level but SKC will go on in PKs.

What do you guys think? Can JaviMo have a lovely return to Rio Tinto and bring back all the points for FC Dallas? Is it time for FCD to suffer their first loss of the season?
