FC Dallas vs San Jose Earthquakes: Preview, TV schedule and how to watch online

Will the Quakes be the first team to trip up FC Dallas?

MLS: FC Dallas at San Jose Earthquakes John Hefti-USA TODAY Sports

The weekend is here as FC Dallas is back in action tomorrow night as they host the San Jose Earthquakes.

San Jose is coming off a midweek draw against Orlando while FCD tied their last game against NYCFC.

FC Dallas notes:

Injury update. Once again it is still Mauro Diaz on the injury list with his Achilles’ injury. Paxton Pomykal joined Diaz on the injury report this week after he had knee surgery.

Last match with SJ. The two sides met earlier this year in San Jose where FC Dallas controlled the game and nearly escaped with three points but a late San Jose goal sealed a draw.

Unbeaten streak. FC Dallas extended their season-opening undefeated streak to nine games and their overall league undefeated streak to 14 games dating back to last Sept. 17, following their 1-1 draw with New York City FC on Sunday afternoon at Toyota Stadium. The nine-game undefeated run to start the season is now tied for the ninth-longest in MLS history.

Key player for FCD: Kellyn Acosta. This will be one of those games that FCD will look to control in the midfield. While Carlos Gruezo will be tasked with closing down the passing lanes up to Wondolowski and company, Acosta will be there to facilitate the ball forward into the attack.

Biggest Question: Can FCD close out games?

The last time they met it was a late goal given up. And last Sunday it was a game they should have won over NYCFC but a late goal also caused that win to go away. If people are taking note of anything with this club right now it is the ability to not close out games on a regular basis. This is the perfect time to erase those thoughts and get back on a positive note before facing two rivals.

San Jose Notes:

Key player for SJ: Chris Wondolowski. What else can you say right now? The guy is hot and continues to score big time goals for this team.

QUESTIONABLE: D - Andres Imperiale (foot injury)
