FC Dallas vs LA Galaxy: Preview, TV schedule and how to watch online

How will FC Dallas look in the season opener?

MLS: FC Dallas at LA Galaxy Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

The regular season is finally here as FC Dallas is back in action tomorrow afternoon when they take on the LA Galaxy.

The two squads look to get off on the right foot to begin the new season.

LA-FCD All-Time MLS Meetings (68 games)

LA lead the MLS regular season series between the clubs, with 33 wins, while Dallas have 23 victories. The teams have drawn 12 times.

  • at LA (28 meetings): LA lead 14-8-6 (69 LA goals, 33 DAL goals)
  • at Dallas (34 meetings): Dallas lead 18-9-7 (57 DAL goals, 49 LA goals)

FC Dallas notes:

Injury update. Mauro Diaz (Achilles), Victor Ulloa (sports hernia) and Ryan Hollingshead (back/neck) are all out for this one. Anibal Chala (hamstring) is questionable.

Opening day magic. According to the club’s game notes, FC Dallas is tied with Real Salt Lake for the most consecutive opening‐day wins with five. Dallas defeated Philadelphia (2‐0, 2016), San Jose (1‐0, 2015), Montreal (3‐2, 2014), Colorado (1‐0, 2013) and NY Red Bulls (2‐1, 2012). Dallas has not lost on opening day match since a 3‐1 loss to Chicago in 2009.

Young guns in MLS. Recently the league revealed the average ages per team. FC Dallas has the youngest average age of 24, while this weekend’s opposition comes in with an average age of 26. Signing three teenagers certainly helped FCD’s number get lower.

Key player for FCD: Kellyn Acosta. We want this to be the Year of Kellyn so badly. Why not kick start the season with another strong performance?

Biggest question: What kind of gas is in the tank at the moment after going to Panama?

We saw Oscar Pareja juggle his lineup a bit on Wednesday night, which was good given the four goal lead (then five goal lead after the own goal). But with all the travel this past week, will they be gassed by the 60th minute in this one? LA has a lot of question marks of their own but long travel like that tends to wear teams down.

LA Galaxy Notes:

Key player for LA Galaxy: Jelle Van Damme. Make no mistake, the veteran center back will not only captain this team but he will be the driving force behind everything they do. If he slacks defensively, so will this Galaxy squad.

Galaxy in home openers. LA Galaxy are 10-5-6 in home openers all-time.

Injuries: Gyasi Zardes - questionable; Ashley Cole - out; Robbie Rogers - out
