FC Dallas vs Seattle Sounders: Preview, TV schedule and how to watch online

FC Dallas hopes to pick up a rare win in Seattle.

The final two weeks of the season are here as FC Dallas is in Washington battling the Seattle Sounders.

Both teams are hoping to get into the playoffs with a win (and some help).

FC Dallas notes:

Injury update. No injuries to discuss right now.

Previous meeting. These two sides just met for the first time this season last month in rather dreadful 0-0 draw.

Backing into the end of the season. Dallas has only won once in their last 13 league games (6L-6D) and failed to score in six of those matches. On the flip side, Seattle have one win over its last seven matches, with a 1-2-4 record in that time, dating back to Aug. 23.

Defensive shape is back. According to the club’s game notes, FC Dallas allowed just 19 goals in its first 19 games this season – 1.00 GPG. It allowed 23 goals in its next 10 games – 2.30 GPG, but has now recorded three shutouts in its last five games – 1.00 GPG.

Getting that first goal. Since 2015, FCD is 35-2-6 when scoring first. Dallas’ only losses were a 2‐1 defeat to the LA Galaxy on Aug. 15, 2015 and a 4-1 loss to Minnesota United on September 23 of this year.

Key player for FCD: Carlos Gruezo. For me, this one comes straight down the middle of the field with the enforcer. If Gruezo (who is on a yellow card suspension warning) has an off night in the defensive side of things, it could easily lead to another loss and possibly the end of the playoff chase.

Biggest Question: How can FCD pick up a win in a place that they’ve always struggled in?

One win in nine trips to Washington is tough to get over. But given how both teams are a bit sluggish at the moment in terms of form, this could easily be similar to the previous meeting that saw neither team really press forward enough. Dallas will need to find their groove early in this one to help silence the loud Seattle crowd. If not, it could be yet another disappointing trip in the Pacific Northwest.

Seattle Notes:

Key player for Seattle: Clint Dempsey - With Morris out, the attack is going to rest on the veteran in a big way. Dempsey has a knack for coming up big in key moments.

Injuries: OUT – D Brad Evans (lower back pain), F Jordan Morris (right hamstring strain), M Callum Mallace (left quad strain); M Osvaldo Alonso (quad injury)
