September is almost in the books as the MLS playoff race is getting hotter than ever.

There are road draws that you gladly take and this was one of them. I know it wasn’t pretty but at least it was a shutout on the defensive end. That is something I want to see more of in the final months here.
Our chalkboard also took a look at how the defense did their thing on Saturday night.
Again, it is a road point that we will take. It also helped that a lot of other teams below us drew their games this weekend too.
This long piece came out late last week. If you didn’t get a chance to read the entire thing, do yourself a favor and do it today.
Everyone loves to discuss what FCD is doing in their youth system these days.
Matt Hedges makes this club better defensively, there is no argument about that.
President Carlos Ruiz has an interesting ring to it I suppose.

Matt Doyle checks in with his usual weekend stuff. He does try to rain on the FCD fun here as he discusses the club’s record since Fabian Castillo departed. We get it Doyle, FCD didn’t replace Castillo.
Kind of crazy to see teams like Portland, LA, and New England all forget to show up this weekend. Even crazier to look at the standings and see five clubs behind FCD at 48 points.
Don’t look now but the Sounders are getting hot again. Jordan Morris is a big part of that too. I wouldn’t want to play them in the post season right now either.
It hasn’t been the season the Montreal or Didier Drogba imagined back at the the start of things. That frustration is starting to boil over a bit.
I won’t lie, at times I forgot that Besler was still with SKC this season. Injuries have certainly played a part of that too.
