For the second straight weekend, FC Dallas hit the road and came away with a draw, this time in a 0-0 game with Real Salt Lake.

The scoreless draw was the eight shutout of the season for keeper Chris Seitz, who had to make four saves on the night to preserve the point.

Seitz nearly helped FC Dallas score in the opening ten minutes of the match too on a long pass to Maxi Urruti in the eight minute. Urruti headed the ball forward to Mauro Diaz, who then knocked a short pass back to Urruti but his shot rattled off the right post and away from Nick Rimando’s goal.

Seitz was called upon in the 23rd minute to make a big stop on Kyle Beckerman, who attempted a shot from distance. Beckerman picked up a ball in the open field and tried to beat his former teammate but Seitz was able to dive and make the grab.

Diaz had a good attempt in the 39th minute to set up Walker Zimmerman with a header on goal. Diaz sent a lofty ball to the back post where Zimmerman and Matt Hedges were there to met it. Zimmerman got the header but it wasn’t good enough to get past Rimando.

Both teams traded possession in the second half before RSL pressed for a late goal in the 77th minute. RSL got a couple free kicks and tried to push for a goal but Dallas’ defenders were able to make a final clearance away from danger to keep the game level.

FCD nearly had a game-winner of their own in the 89th minute as Maynor Figueroa found Tesho Akindele over the top on the left side of the field. But as Akindele was attempting to corral the ball in the penalty box Rimando came out and made a stop.

FCD returns home next week for two games, one in the Champions League on Wednesday night against CD Suchitepéquez and then again on Saturday against the LA Galaxy.
