The month of September is nearly over as FC Dallas heads to Utah to face Real Salt Lake for the final regular season meeting between the two clubs.
FCD is coming off a 2-2 draw last weekend in the Big Apple against New York City FC. RSL is coming off a 1-0 loss at home to the Houston Dynamo.
FCD became the first team to clinch a playoff berth last weekend with their draw in New York. A win tomorrow can help lock up a top-four seed in the Western Conference.
FC Dallas notes:
Injury update. The only injury is still with Zach Loyd.
Last meeting. The two squads nearly a month ago in Utah where RSL got the better end of the deal in a 1-0 win on a Jamison Olave goal.
Games at Rio Tinto. According to the game notes FCD has come away with points on four of its last six trips to Rio Tinto Stadium, with two wins and two draws, dating back to 2012.
Key player for FCD: Mauro Diaz. The attack has been humming along nicely but going back to Utah is never an easy thing for any club in MLS. Dallas will need Diaz to be the main catalyst that he is in the middle of the field.
Biggest question: Can FCD pick up some points?
The road has been tricky for FCD this season for sure but getting some points in Salt Lake does feel more doable now that RSL has dropped a game at home this season. FCD needs to get at least a draw in this game to help continue to push towards a Supporters’ Shield crown.
Real Salt Lake Notes:
Injury update. OUT: FW Emery Welshman (hip flexor 3/10), DF Aaron Maund (foot 8/10); PROBABLE: DF Chris Schuler (soreness 9/3), M/F Jordan Allen (adductor 7/27), DF Justen Glad (hamstring 8/30), MF Javier Morales (quadriceps 9/10), FW Olmes Garcia (adductor 9/5); QUESTIONABLE: FW Yura Movsisyan (right heel 9/20), FW Joao Plata (quadriceps 9/20)
Key player for RSL: Nick Rimando. I normally don’t call out keepers as key players but Rimando still remains to be one of the best in the league.
