Is a trophy in FCD’s September future? | Big D Soccer

Six more games to deal with on the schedule this month with none bigger than that on September 13 against New England. Time to start expanding that trophy case.

FCD only focusing on Portland |

One thing that has probably gone a bit under reported this season is how FCD continues to take a one game at a time approach to things. I know right now it may be hard to not look ahead but Oscar Pareja has done well with this philosophy.

NYCFC downs DCU in wild finish | Black and Red United

A couple goals exchanged in stoppage time is always interesting to watch. NYCFC is now the East leaders with 44 points after 28 games. Definitely a team to keep an eye on here in the Supporters Shield race now.

Ranking the DPs in MLS |

From duds to stars. Yeah, I would imagine that had Fabian Castillo not left FCD, they would be in the top bunch on this list. But nice praise here for Carlos Gruezo. If anything, this reminds me how tough DP signing is in this league though. You either get it right or your bomb, not too many in the middle in my book.

Twitter video of Nigel de Jong removed | For the Win

I had that tweet posted in yesterday’s news before it was taken down by MLS. I’m sure some folks in LA weren’t too pleased by it but it was an odd way to talk about a departure from MLS.

Rapids are worse off with Tim Howard | Burgundy Wave

Oh hot take alert! Seriously though, I have always questioned spending that kind of money in this league on a keeper. I do find this piece interesting from a stats perspective as the Rapids have regressed a bit since his arrival.

Heaps sees positives in new formation |

Just another friendly reminder that FCD hosts New England on September 13.

Ridgewell gets a new contract with Portland | Stumptown Footy

Smart move by the Timbers to lock up the veteran center back to a non-DP deal for the future.

No Clint Dempsey, no problem for the USMNT | Fox Soccer

I have to agree a bit with this as long as guys like Bobby Wood and Jozy Altidore actually do step up. Also, can we please have Kellyn Acosta in the midfield. Pretty please?
