FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja

On winning a championship for FC Dallas…

This is a big hurdle for us, winning the first one. We took a lot of pressure of the many years it has been since our last championship. That was our commitment and we did it. We had a lot of emotions. It was an incredible celebration with our fans. We are very excited.

On the play of Mauro Diaz…

Mauro’s performance tonight was a culmination of his time at this club this year. Mauro showed the heart of this club and the heart of his teammates. These boys wanted to win. Mauro is their leader. I am very happy with him and for him. Those are the standards he can leave as a legacy at this club.

On coming from behind to get the win again…

We have got through a lot of tough moments in the season so far. Just three days ago we felt like we were playing in another final against Colorado. We lost an important game. The team bounced back tonight. The game was another example of them proving their character. They were able to come back in the game and score the goals and give us this time to celebrate. It’s the character of this team and it comes from many angles but if I had to give it one, it would be the team’s commitment to this franchise.

On bringing a trophy to FC Dallas…

It means a lot to me. This championship means a lot to my story here in America. Being foreign in a country that embraced me and my family. This club gave me a chance to play and now a chance to coach. I came back here to Dallas for this group of players, from the guys in the academy… I came back here from Colorado for a chance to win with this club. Today was a night I won’t ever forget.

FC Dallas midfielder Mauro Diaz

We deserved this title. This is something I will remember forever. The fact that I’m captain and I was able to lift the cup is exciting. But the entire team deserved this.

They were ahead too early and we knew they couldn’t escape and win on our field. We got lucky and kept getting good advantages.

I think that there have been games that were great, but because this was a final game it was better.

FC Dallas midfielder Kellyn Acosta

We made dreams a reality. I mean, we’re just so excited that we can finally give back to the Hunts all they have given to us. I mean, beautiful franchise, beautiful facility. Lamar started a great program and we’re just really thankful and grateful that we got the opportunity to do so and also to just give back to them, all they have given to us.

I know the guys, I mean we’re ecstatic. All the guys, this is the first trophy for most of the players, professionally, so everyone is really happy to hold on to something. But, our work is not done yet, we have a big game on Saturday. Celebrate tonight, but tomorrow is back to business.

It’s a load off our backs, getting that first trophy. The guys have been working hard throughout the whole year; spending a lot of hours on this... A lot of hours, a lot of work… From two-a-days for preseason, to coming in at night and in the morning, even having no days off during the week because of the games. We thoroughly deserve it, as well as the coaching staff; they are a big part of this.
