FC Dallas remain at home after knocking down the Timbers 3-1. The Rapids continue their road trip after a 2-0 defeat in New England.
Colorado have gone from massive unbeaten streaks, to losing and drawing more games than they win. Without Jermaine Jones this team is prone to struggle and their road form is nothing to be afraid of. Dallas is still unbeaten at home and has sorted out its attacking issues in recent weeks.
Colorado will miss Sean St. Ledger and Dillon Serna, and will miss Jermaine Jones as well.
GK: Tim Howard; LB: Marc Burch; CB: Axel Sjoberg, Bobby Burling; RB: Eric Miller; CM: Sam Cronin, Shkelzan Gashi, Dillon Powers; RW: Dominic Badji; LW: Marco Pappa; FW: Kevin Doyle.
Michael Barrios vs. Marc Burch. Colorado have a strong defensive unit, but on the road, they have conceded more goals than any other team in the league lately. Michael Barrios is in the best form of his Dallas career and has been torching left-backs in the last few weeks. Burch’s ability to reign in the little Colombian will be crucial to Colorado stopping the Dallas attack.
Keys to Three Points
Build from the Back.
Dallas have a seven point lead in the Supporter’s Shield race and it is important they hold that lead against teams like Colorado. Play smart and be sure in defense. Make sure that at the worst you get a draw. A loss for Dallas could be a disaster.
Managing the Lineup.
Dallas has the Open Cup Final to play on Tuesday night. There is a distinct possibility that a rotated side plays tonight and as such it is imperative that Dallas finds a way to win, while remaining fresh for New England on Tuesday.
Get Strikers Involved.
Dallas goals are coming from all over the field, but rarely from the strikers. Be it Urruti or Akindele, Dallas needs to start using the man up top as an outlet rather than a distraction for the other team’s defense.
Dallas continues its road form with the first hat trick in a long time from Barrios.
My Prediction: 3-1 FC Dallas.
